About the role:

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic Engineer to join our Apprenticeships team. In this role, you will coach and mentor apprentices, helping them develop the hands-on skills, technical knowledge, and professional behaviours needed to excel in their careers. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of machining, fitting, and welding professionals in the region.

This role is perfect for someone from a Machining, Fitting, or Welding background looking for a fresh, rewarding challenge. We provide full assessor and quality training to support your personal and professional growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of learners within specified industry area.
  • Provide a structured and appropriate development plan for apprentices enabling them to maximise their full potential in line with Apprenticeship Standard requirements.
  • Monitor, deliver & collate evidence for knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSB’s) in line with Apprenticeship Standard requirements.
  • Carry out monthly learner sessions to ensure monthly learning is taking place.
  • Carry out 12-week progress reviews to review learner progress against Training Plans. Agree targets and actions to ensure learners remain on track to achieve timely completion.
  • Carry out yearly Health and Safety vetting’s of employers, to ensure safe working environments for learners.
  • Carry out new company due diligence for new employers to TDR.
  • Ensure learners are completed in a timely manner and progress to End Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Develop and deliver training for apprenticeships and TDR’s Commercial Training Portfolio.
  • Work with learners and employers to document evidence of progress in an efficient and effective manner using tools such as OneFile e-portfolio system.
  • Manage Apprenticeship Information System (AIS) to ensure timely completion of learning aims.
  • Support the induction of new learners and the creation of enrolment paperwork for the new starts sign-up process.
  • Support the reporting of progress and associated data collection requirements.
  • Work with the Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) to implement new processes and approaches to enhance programme quality.
  • Contribute towards learner EPA success via carrying out mock EPA activities, to maximise success rates.
  • Effectively deal with learner issues/problems to maximise qualification & retention rates.
  • Ensure learner withdrawals are kept to a minimum.

 

About You:

Essential Experience:

  • Relevant industrial/vocational experience and qualifications in machining, fitting or welding.

 

Desired Experience:

  • Recent experience in assessing or training within further education or a professional setting.
  • Experience planning, reviewing, and assessing learning programmes, particularly for apprenticeship standards.
  • Level 4 HNC in a relevant subject.
  • Level 4 IQA Award.

 

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Assessor qualification (or willingness to obtain one within an agreed timeframe).
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
