Engineering Apprenticeship Access Programme

Due to the continued success of the Engineering Apprenticeship Access Programme (EAAP), TDR is currently running our 4th cohort and plan to start the 5th cohort in the very near future. Details of the programme are as follows:

Start Date: Monday 6th January 2020
Duration: 26 weeks
Time: 37 hours per week, Monday — Thursday 08:00 — 16:00 6 Friday 08:OO — 12:30
Location: TDR Training 6 Development Centre, Scotswood Road. Newcastle upon Tyne. NE15 6BZ


Candidates will study towards a Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering with the ultimate aim of progressing into a Level 3 engineering apprenticeship on completion of the 26 week programme.


During the 26 weeks. candidates will complete a combination of the following units:

  • Mechanical
  • Electrical Maintenance
  • Machining
  • Welding
  • Fitting and Assembly


Which will hopefully lead into apprenticeship in the following careers:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Design Engineering
  • Project Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering
  • CNC Machining
  • PLC Instrumentation and Control Engineering
  • Fabrication and Welding
  • Maintenance Engineering

The programme has a current success rate of 100% progression into Employment or an Apprenticeship.

Eligibility criteria, The EAAP is suitable for anyone who already holds a GCSE grade 4 or above in English and Mathematics with NO prior engineering qualifications level 2 or above and is considering a career in Engineering


Engineering Apprenticeship Access Programme

Leading up to the start date and throughout the Apprenticeship Access Programme, the Business Support Services Team will be working with you to source suitable apprenticeship opportunities.  We already have a number of organisations who are keen to recruit engineering apprentices on completion of this course.
