About the role:

We are excited to offer a new opportunity for a passionate Mechanical Engineer to become an Engineering Tutor. In this role, you’ll teach and guide apprentices, helping them develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to excel in their careers. You’ll be instrumental in shaping the future of engineering talent in the region.

This position is ideal for someone from a mechanical engineering background seeking a fresh, rewarding challenge. Full teacher training progression will be provided, supporting your personal and professional growth.

 

About the person:

The successful candidate will bring not only industry knowledge and experience but also life skills and the ability to teach the apprentices to be effective and invaluable members of their workforce.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality training and mentoring to apprentices in mechanical principles, electro-pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Support apprentices in developing both technical and professional skills.
  • Plan and assess learning programmes aligned with apprenticeship standards.
  • Foster an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

 

About You:

We’re looking for someone who brings a blend of industry expertise, life experience, and a passion for teaching. Your ability to inspire and develop apprentices into valuable members of the workforce will be key to your success in this role.

 

Essential Experience:

  • Relevant industrial/vocational experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Practical knowledge of Mechanical Principles, Electro-Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems.

 

Desired Experience:

  • Recent experience in teaching or training within further education or a professional setting.
  • Experience in planning, reviewing, and assessing learning programmes, particularly for apprenticeship standards.

 

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain one within an agreed timeframe).
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
