Tyne Gangway, an employer case study

Tell us a bit about your organisation:

Tyne Gangway is a world leader in the design and manufacture of marine access systems, including aluminium gangways, accommodation ladders, shore-based pedestrian access equipment, and special structures. Established in 1934 Tyne Gangway has an extensive heritage in the manufacture of gangways and is the only business of its kind in the UK. The business prides itself on its excellent customer service and exceptional on-time delivery to a worldwide customer base.

 

What do you use TDR Training for?

We used TDR primarily for the apprentice programme, they assist in apprentice recruitment.

TDR support Tyne Gangway and the apprentices throughout the apprenticeship duration, this is critical to ensuring we and the apprentices get the most out of the programme.

Tyne Gangway believes in passing on its knowledge to our future generations and continuously recruits new and young talent on its apprenticeship programme. We recently welcomed Jack, Adam, Marcos, and Owen who are all great new additions to our team, and we look forward to seeing them flourish in their careers.

We also use TDR for additional bespoke training courses, such as health and safety, skill development and HNC in Engineering for our design staff.

This assists Tyne Gangway in providing qualified staff to execute our work to a high standard.

 

How have you found your experience with TDR Training?

Working alongside TDR has always been positive, the assessment staff are diligent and professional while dealing with the apprentices.

The office staff are helpful and ensure our questions are answered and that they support Tyne Gangway throughout the process from start to finish.

 

Would you recommend TDR Training to other companies and if so, why?

Yes, TDR have been supporting Tyne Gangway for multiple years now and we have had many successful apprentices qualify as trades people.

Through a blend of theoretical and practical training we are able to develop the apprentices into the trade, where they are effective and competent workers.

TDR are dedicated to providing support and training to the apprentices during the whole apprentice programme, the apprentices enjoy this blend of work and study, as they learn while they learn.
