Kieran achieved a Level 2 qualification in Performing Engineering Operations at TDR Training, who deliver the Engineering Apprenticeship Access Programme on behalf of
South Tyneside Council. The scheme, which is available to 16 to 19-year-olds, enabled him to secure employment as an Electrical Technician apprenticeship at award-winning national company, Quantum Controls.
Kieran, 18, from South Shields, said: “The programme was an absolutely brilliant opportunity. The entire process and all the staff were very professional and, from day one, provided a good insight to what a real workplace would be like.
“I am so pleased that I now have an apprenticeship with a successful company and feel motivated to do my very best in my apprenticeship and career. I would recommend this course to anyone who would like a career in engineering.”
The hands-on experience Kieran gained meant he was one step ahead of the hundreds of other candidates applying for apprenticeship opportunities in this highly-competitive sector. He has followed in the footsteps of 98% of previous candidates who gained employment and an apprenticeship at the end of their course.
Ralph Patterson, Kieran’s apprenticeship mentor, said:
“It’s clear that Kieran has received a good grounding in engineering which is definitely helping him in the early days of his apprenticeship.”
