Provide learners with a basic understanding of electrical safety and associated principles, hand tools, practical exercises and testing procedures. Training will include a combination of theoretical and practical exercises over two days.

Electrical Health and Safety

  •   Causes of Electrical Accidents and Injuries
  •   Electricity at work Regulations 1989
  •   Health and Safety at Work 1974
  •   Identifying Electrical Hazards
  •   Electric Shock
  •   Safe Methods of Working – PPE and First Aid

Basic Electrical Awareness

  •   Voltage Levels
  •   Current
  •   Shock / Fault Protection
  •   Solenoids
  •   Heater Elements
  •   Diodes

Practical Exercises

  •  Basic electrical theory (Ohms law, Power)
  •  Correct Use of Hand Tools
  •  Crimping
  •  Fitting Plugs
  •  Fitting Glands
  •  Wiring of Electrical Panels (Isolator, basic stop-start circuits)

Testing

  •   Cables – Insulation, Continuity & Voltage
  •   PAT Testing – Safe Use of PAT Equipment and class ratings 1 & 2
  •   Voltage Testers & Proving units, test methods
  •   Multi Meter – Safe Use of Multi-Meter, and its functions.

 

Completion

All attendees will receive a TDR certificate that shows attendance and subjects covered.
