Main Duties

Due to our rapid success and growth over the past few months we are looking to expand our team further with a UNIQUE apprenticeship opportunity.

Are you looking for an opportunity to be challenged, learn and grow your skill set with the only CNC equipped cutting tool manufacturing facility in the North East?

  • Understand mathematical techniques, formula and calculation involved in the machining processes such as speeds and feeds, calculating angles/tapers, material removal
  • Understand the practical and theoretical uses of the machines used, and their applications
  • Understand the work-holding devices, cutting tools, and setting up procedures, in adequate depth to provide a sound basis for carrying out the activities, correcting faults and ensuring the work output is to the required specification
  • Learn to read engineering drawings
  • Learn to set and operate CNC machines (including setting the cutting speeds and choosing the correct tooling)
  • Learn to program CNC machines using different controls
  • Learn to carry out changes to programmes
  • Learn to problem solve machine issues
  • Learn about housekeeping and daily maintenance checks in the work area
  • Ensure all working practices and procedures are followed at all times
  • Understand and complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time
  • Undertake any other duties in line with capabilities
  • Maintenance and safe working practices and use of PPE

Requirements & Prospects

Desired Skills
  • To be able to use a computer and the main software packages competently
  • To be thorough and pay attention to detail
  • Have a good knowledge of technical drawings
  • A basic understanding of CAD packages, preferably 2d Autocad
  • Good problem-solving skills
Personal Qualities
  • The ability to work on your own
  • Candidates must be hardworking, committed, and motivated
  • Reliable and punctual with the ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • A pro-active approach to learning and work is essential
  • A dedication to engineering
Desired Qualifications

All candidates MUST have achieved their Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, only candidates with this qualification will be considered

The candidate must have GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English
