General Description

To work under the instruction/guidance of the Senior laboratory technician. The primary focus of this role will be to support the senior lab technician to prepare and maintain scientific equipment, apparatus and resources for use in lessons.

Main Duties

Under the supervision of the senior technician

  • To assist in assembling trays of equipment for practical lessons.
  •  Collecting, checking and returning equipment to stores.
  •  General lab/prep room cleaning of work surfaces and sinks.
  •  Production and upkeep of teaching resources for staff.
  •  Support supply teachers in preparation of cover lessons.
  •  Cleaning and restocking glassware.
  •  Develop an understanding of how practical equipment is used by teachers and students, to aid developments in the technical service.
  •  To support with supervision at break times

Desired Qualifications
  • The successful applicant will have A*-C in Maths and English GCSEs (or equivalent) and preferably be educated to A Level (or equivalent) standard including Chemistry
